Published on: 8th March 2024   |   By: Sophia Sheera   |   Category: Uncategorized

Herts Police have confirmed that officers are investigating “a report of financial fraud” relating to a Rickmansworth wildlife charity.

Ricky News received an anonymous tip-off alleging that a member of staff at Chris Wicks Wildlife Rescue (CWWR) had embezzled funds exceeding £20,000 from the charity.

Founded in 2019 at Stockers Farm, CWWR closed its doors in August 2022 when the founder of the charity Mr Wicks unexpectedly announced his retirement.

A spokesperson for Herts Police said: “Officers in Three Rivers are investigating a report of financial fraud relating to a former wildlife charity in the Rickmansworth area.

“They are investigating allegations that money had been fraudulently removed from the charity’s bank account between August 2021 and August 2022, and their enquiries remain ongoing.”
