A Hertfordshire charity is delighted to finally reveal the total amount raised at a football tournament that took place in Hemel Hempstead.
On Sunday, May 12, Community Kickabout headed to the Focus Community Arena, home of Hemel Hempstead Town FC, for Mind Games, a family-friendly fundraising football tournament.
The day started with a raffle and tombola, with the first match between Kickabout’s women’s team and Herts Police Women kicking off at 11am. The Kickabout girls did themselves proud, but it was the police team who lifted the Mind Games trophy.
Off the pitch, visitors at the event were treated to free face painting and children’s competitions, and a three-team mini-tournament between Kickabout’s men’s team, Lads Speak Out and Celeb FC.
The Celeb FC team featured UK Garage legend MC Kie, Kayode Damali from The Apprentice, Adam Jordan from Lovestruck High, Marlon Waller from Big Brother, model Germain Rico, DJ D3lboy, and several other personalities and ex-footballers.
Lads Speak Out beat the host side Kickabout 3-1, and Celeb FC took a short while to settle in before going on to beat Lads Speak Out 4-1. The third and final game saw Celeb FC secure the Mind Games trophy with a 5-1 victory over Kickabout.
Now, Hertfordshire Mind Network have announced the final total of the fundraising, which will go towards their mission to support mental health across the country.
A spokesperson for Hertfordshire Mind Network said: “We are proud to announce that the football tournament raised an incredible £2,000 towards our services. A huge thanks to Marc and everyone who helped organise the event and to all those who took part!”
