Two new all-weather netball and tennis courts have opened at Verulamium Park in St Albans.
At a special ceremony on Saturday, July 8, Mayor of the City and District of St Albans councillor Anthony Rowlands cut the ribbon at the new sports facilities.
They are located next to the Abbey View athletics track and replace the previous courts, which had reached the end of their life a few years ago. The courts have been provided by St Albans City & District Council, as owners of the park, and will be managed by leisure company Everyone Active.
The new courts are floodlit and are secured by a 12-foot fence. The site of the previous courts now features a children’s play area.
Mayor Rowlands was joined by councillors Helen Campbell and Chris White, Everyone Active’s contracts manager James McNulty, and members of the local Kardale Netball Club, who will be using the courts.
Mayor Rowlands said: “I’m delighted to have presided over the official opening of these first-class outdoor courts.”
The courts can be booked here.
