‘FANTASTIC BUZZ’: Second Croxley Arts Café a roaring success

Published on: 6th June 2024   |   By: Sophia Sheera   |   Category: Uncategorized

Local children were excited to see their artwork displayed alongside the work of professional artists at the second Croxley Green Arts Café this April.

Held at St Oswald’s Church in Malvern Way on April 20, the hall was abuzz with tables, stalls and musicians. Many schoolchildren from Little Green and Croxley Danes whose work was displayed on the walls brought along their parents to the highly anticipated community event.

Organisers hoped to support local arts and crafters whilst also organising important funds for Christian Aid, which distributes resources to humanitarian relief efforts in places like Gaza, Ukraine and Burundi.

Last year’s inaugural event raised £1,000 simply from generous donations, whilst this year’s event went even further with a grand total of £1,100 raised.

Whilst manning her stall, Croxley-based artist Fran Catlow found a moment to sketch the busy scene before her.

Reflecting on the day in words, committee member Chris Gregory said: “The Arts Café was a huge success again,” said Chris Gregory from the Croxley and Rickmansworth Christian Aid committee. “It shows how much talent we have in our area, encouraging local artists, crafts people and school children to exhibit in a relaxed setting where Croxley residents of all ages can drop in and appreciate their work. There was fantastic buzz to the hall and it was a great social occasion.”

Following such success, Chris hopes that a third event will take place next year in what might become an annual fixture for the Croxley community.
