The Oza family is deeply saddened by the passing of beloved husband, father and grandfather, Dr Shivkumar Oza MBBS, FRCS (Lon) on Friday, September 22.
Dr Oza was born in Madhya Pradesh, India, on August 11, 1927, in a very modest household.
His diligence, ambition and fortitude secured him scholarship at Mahatma Gandhi Medical College in Indore followed by Seth Gordhandas Sunderdas Medical School in Bombay.
Dr Oza migrated to England in 1956 in order to continue his medical studies.
In 1964, he successfully completed his Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (London) specialising in orthopaedics, before briefly returning to India for his newly married wife, Smt. Veena Oza in December.
Back in the UK, Dr Oza settled in Nottingham, working in general practice and orthopaedics within the NHS for over 38 years.
He retired in January 1994 and moved to Abbey View, Radlett. He spent many happy, peaceful years here whilst providing much love and care for his five grandchildren, schooled locally at Haberdashers, Watford Grammar and St Albans Girls’ School.
He touched the hearts of everyone he met and his enthusiasm, energy, and love for life was infectious.
His care, kindness, energy, intelligence and love will be sorely missed by his wife Veena; his children Parag, Deeepali, Rashmi, Pankaj, Aparna; and his grandchildren Ayush, Ruchita, Niyati, Aneesh and Paridhi.
