Hemel Hempstead FC are delighted to move into the next round of the FA Cup qualifiers after beating Royston 3-1 on Saturday, September 16.
Hemel took the lead in the third minute when Kyle O’Connor-Ajayi headed home a George Williams corner, giving the visitors the perfect start.
Royston forced a series of corners that gave the Tudors a few problems, but former Love Island star Montel McKenzie managed to steal the play and clipped it past the keeper.
It was only a very short reprieve, however, as McKenzie scored to give the Tudors a three-goal cushion, followed by Royston pulling back a goal.
The team are hoping hope to build on this initial success and make their way to Wembley.
Brad Quinton, Hemel’s manager, said in a post-match interview: “The delivery from the boys was exceptional. It’s a great start to come away in the FA Cup and go 1-0 up so early. The most important thing is that we’re through; we’re in the next round.
“The way my boys conducted themselves today was exceptional. The club haven’t been on an FA Cup run for a while. It’s great to win and have all the fans here.”
