A Pinner resident’s phone box transformation project is well underway, with hopes of a grand opening in the new year.
Annesley Abercorn is the founder and chairman of The Dream Trust UK charity, which supports young people from difficult circumstances. In September, Annesley purchased a BT phone box on Pinner High Street for £1 with the aim of converting the box into a community library and careers noticeboard.
PINNERnews spoke to Annesley to check in on his progress so far.
He said: “We are looking to raise an additional £500 to finish the project. This will pay for shelving, lacquer, brackets and noticeboard.
“Hundreds of local residents have stopped by the kiosk to chat with our volunteers whilst work has been carried out. Everyone we have spoken to is extremely excited about this new addition.”
Annesley hopes the phone box project will be completed in the next few weeks, with a grand opening in early 2025.
He continued: “Thanks to some brilliant local volunteers, the exterior of the telephone kiosk has been cleaned, prepared and repainted.
“The interior has been cleaned. Replacement signs have been installed, damaged glass panes replaced and the interior light restored to working order.”
