A young cricket star from St Clement Danes School has taken the sporting world by storm at an international tournament.
Year 8 student Dwij Upadhyay joined cricketers from across the globe to represent South England at the World Junior Cricket League in the United Arab Emirates. Taking place from April 7 to 14, the tournament was hosted by renowned England cricketer Adil Rashid MBE.
Dwij impressed the crowds, earning the titles of highest wicket-taker during the league rounds and second-highest wicket-taker overall.
A spokesperson for St Clement Danes said: “Out of over 1,000 players aged 13-14 across the UK, only 39 were selected to participate in this competition.
“In recognition of his exceptional performance, Dwij was also named to the Team of the Tournament — an honour reserved for only 13 players out of 104.
“We would like to extend our congratulations to Dwij and his family. His success is a testament to his dedication, skill, and sportsmanship. We also thank his teachers and the wider school community for their continued support in nurturing his talent.”
