Kings Langley’s return to competitive football ended in disappointment despite taking the lead early in the second half thanks to a goal from Edu Toiny-Pendred.
The result also meant their unbeaten run, which stretched to the start of 2020, came to end.
It was a slow start to the Southern Premier League Central for both sides, with neither being able to create many chances, with the best effort falling to the home side on the 27th minute, with Sammons’ curling effort going just wide.
The first goal came for Kings on the 64th minute, with Toiny-Pendred picking the ball up from the halfway line and finding himself in on goal, and his effort was well struck and placed in the bottom corner. 0-1
The lead didn’t last long though, with the equaliser coming just three minutes later when Kings failed to defend their lines from a corner, allowing Isaac to force the ball home. 1-1
It was heartbreak for Kings in the final 10 minutes after Andoh was fouled in the box, allowing Grocott to step up from 12-yards and grab the winner for Stratford. 1-2
It’s FA Cup action up next for Kings with a home tie against Clacton on Tuesday.
