BARRED : Rickmansworth pub forced to close following antisocial behaviour complaints

A Rickmansworth pub has been forced to close its doors after a number of complaints over antisocial behaviour (ASB) led to a court case.

The Oaks Turkish Kitchen (formerly The Oaks pub), located in West Hyde, has faced a series of troubles in recent months.

The venue reopened under new management on Friday, May 31. Just over two weeks later on Tuesday, June 18, it was served with a temporary closure order for nuisance or disorder.

Now, the owners have been forced to hand back the keys after being taken to court over reports of ASB at the venue.

Hertfordshire Police confirmed that they had attended The Oaks on two separate occasions since the reopening, once on Saturday, June 1, and again on Thursday, June 13.

A spokesperson for Three Rivers District Council (TRDC) said: “The lease of the premises had been foreclosed on by the Stonegate Group and the licence has now been transferred to Social Cellar (Gamma) Ltd, who are part of the Stonegate Group.

“TRDC had applied for a closure order, owing to multiple police reports of ASB largely due to poor management. The council agreed to withdraw its application once the foreclosure of the lease was issued at the premises.

“The Oaks public house will remain shut until a nominated designator premises supervisor is put in place.”

The owners of The Oaks Turkish Kitchen have been contacted for comment.
