DO YOU REMEMBER: A now-closed pub in Chalfont St Giles

Published on: 9th July 2023   |   By: Nik Allen   |   Category: Uncategorized

This month’s historical photo features a pub in London Road, Chalfont St Giles, that closed 15 years ago this year.

This image of The Pheasant was taken in 1991. The Grade II listed pub has been open in the village since before 1822, the year it was acquired by the Weller Brewery.

Once a popular haunt for those travelling between London and Aylesbury, last orders came in 2008. After closure, the building was briefly home to a fish restaurant, before being converted into The Wheelhouse veterinary centre, which it remains today.

Do you have any photos of old pubs in The Chalfonts and Gerrards Cross? Please send them to us at newsdesk@mynewsmag.co.uk and they could feature in a future edition of the magazine.

One closed pub that really should have stayed open. Lovely old worlde premises. Great location.
