A Pinner athlete has been signed up by Boccia UK for its first-ever Talent Transition Squad.
Boccia is a target sport designed for athletes with high support needs, and is played indoors with soft leather balls.
Reshad Saraj, a 31-year-old English national champion, has already competed in international events with Boccia UK, and won bronze at the Poznan Challenger.
Now, Reshad will have even more opportunities to realise his dream of becoming a world-class player with the Talent Transition Squad.
The squad aims to develop talent from across the UK by supporting athletes with the potential of competing at the highest level in international competitions.
The programme has also introduced International Challenger events, an introduction to overseas competition, which Reshad was also a part of.
The squad’s players will also have the opportunity to train with Great Britain’s world-class players at training camps.
Reshad said: “I’m very looking forward to being a part of the Talent Transition Squad to see what we can do. I’m excited to learn and gain more experience and to see where I can go.
“It’s not always been an easy ride, but I’m so proud of myself for sticking at it and my support team has been amazing.”
