Plans to build almost 200 homes in green belt land between Shenley Hill and Theobald Street in Radlett have been resubmitted, despite backlash from residents.
Submitted by Fairfax Properties on Friday, September 20, the plans would see the construction of 195 new homes, with at least 50 per cent of them affordable housing.
Despite the plans facing 2,812 objections compared to two comments of support on the Hertsmere planning portal last time around.
Fairfax Properties argue the land makes a “limited contribution” to the purposes of the green belt.
The project would add 62 two bed houses, 69 three bed houses, 23 four bed houses and 41 apartments to the site, which is over 28 acres in size.
The plan, which was initially dismissed in March 2023, aims to expand Newberries Primary School and build a new space for Red House GP surgery.
In June 2023 when the plan went to appeal, Aldenham Parish Council (APC) said it was “working hard to stop the housing development”.
Hertsmere Borough Council said: “An application relating to this site is currently in our system and is being assessed. It will be brought to our Planning Committee in due course.”
Fairfax Properties were not available to comment.
