Three Rivers District Council (TRDC) celebrated its 50th anniversary by unveiling a unique needlework project on Thursday, October 3.
Stitches in Time features 50 handcrafted flags which together make up a 25-metre stretch of bunting. Each flag depicts an episode, person or place related to the district.
The project was unveiled at an event at Three Rivers House, in front of six former chairs of TRDC and current chair councillor Raj Khiroya.
Cllr Khiroya said: “I am delighted that the district of Three Rivers has reached the milestone of 50 years.
“Over that time, this beautiful district has seen some huge and dramatic changes, but has always been home to a great sense of community spirit, diversity of businesses and peoples as well as urban and rural attractions, as it remains today.”
The needlework included contributions from Abbots Langley Local History Society, Sarratt Local Historical Society, Croxley Green History Project, Rickmansworth Historical Society and TRDC itself.
The bunting project was organised by Three Rivers Museum and led by trustees Pat Hamilton and Sal Williams.
