This photograph, kindly sent in by resident Barbara Sedassy, comes from 1952, the year that Queen Elizabeth II ascended to the throne of England.
The picture features a crowd of 50s village residents singing the then-recently changed national anthem, ‘God Save the Queen’, with Barbara herself aged only four years old back then, wearing an angora hat.
The coronation of the Queen however was yet to happen. Though she immediately took the throne upon the death of her father, King George VI, on February 6, 1952, the crowning event did not take place for another 14 months, on June 2, 1953.
