Two members of the Chorleywood community have been rewarded by Chorleywood Parish Council recently for their hard work in helping the village in various ways.
Firstly, Jackie Worrall has been awarded the Freedom of the Parish, the first time the honour has ever been given out, and the highest honour that the council can bestow on a person.
Jackie has spent the last 20 years of her life aiding the community in all manner of things, having been a parish councillor, chair of the council on two occasions, chairman of various committees and recently working to complete the negotiations on the upcoming cricket club development. She retired from the council at the last election.
The second award was the Chorleywood Community Champion of 2022, which this year was awarded to Tilak Patel, owner of home good shop Lords. This award was based on nominations from members of the community.
After the closure of the village post office, residents experienced inconvenience and disruption, as due to the lack of banks in the area it was the only place many could go to exchange money and pay bills.
Mr Patel gave up space within his shop free of charge to provide a temporary post office, which after providing a lifeline to residents throughout the pandemic, has now become a permanent fixture.
