A local artist will be displaying some of his pastel works at upcoming solo exhibition at Reveley Lodge in Bushey.
Martin Matthews, 77, who specialises in landscape works, will be displaying his best pieces throughout the month of October, all of which are for sale except one, which has already been sold.
Martin went to art college before spending a career in the clothing and retail trade. Since he retired 15 years ago, he’s explored his true passion of pastel work. This will be his third solo exhibition.
He said: “I always admired a friend of mine who was head of The Pastel Society, and I love pastel artwork as a medium. So, when I retired, I wanted to try my hand. You do have these moments where you think, ‘What am I putting myself through? I’m opening myself up to all this criticism.’ But it’s always lovely to see your work framed and hung up.”
Martin’s exhibition will be open from October 1 to October 31.
