COMEDIC GOLD: Hemel comedian prepares to perform at Edinburgh Fringe Festival

Published on: 8th June 2024   |   By: Panayiota Demosthenous   |   Category: Uncategorized

A comedian from Hemel Hempstead is preparing to perform at the iconic Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

It all started when Dylan Dodds joined a youth theatre group in Abbots Langley, where he grew up. He took several sold-out shows to the Fringe, as well as appearing in the Harry Potter films.

But now, Hemel local Dylan is previewing his second solo stand-up show. Entitled GroundDodds Day, the show follows the comedian as he becomes stuck in a time loop.

He said: “I was first introduced to live stand-up at the Fringe in 2007, and there’s never been a more exciting time for it! A few years ago, I started doing it myself and never looked back.

“I like to do something different. This show is a slightly theatrical stand-up show, a bit like what Richard Gadd did before Netflix smash Baby Reindeer, but sillier!”

Dylan has already performed the show a handful of times and will be performing at Watford Fringe on July 20, before going on to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival from August 2 to 25, with more dates to be confirmed.

He continued: “It’s been a good reaction so far, apart from one show in Brighton where a group thought it was a private dinner party and kept interrupting…

“The show is shaping up to be what I hoped for when I first thought of it. It’s a culmination of all my best work. It’s got a personal story at the heart of it, with a good mix of all my best material and also a fun, silly concept. It’s the three cornerstones of a great show!”
