A woman committed to improving Chorleywood for local residents as been named as Community Champion 2023 by the parish council.
Chorleywood Residents’ Association (CRA) executive committee member Lisa Stewart collected the award on Chorleywood Village Day on July 13.
The award was a “really nice surprise” for Lisa, who had been preoccupied with nominating another local champion.
Lisa had put forward the name of local pharmacist Hitesh Dodhia for “going above and beyond” to help those in the community, but soon found out that the rest of the CRA had secretly voted for her.
A Chorleywood Parish Council spokesperson said: “Lisa was nominated for her work to support and improve Chorleywood, for residents and a place to do business, and in relation to two particular projects, the Parade Beds Renewal Project and improving the Post Office counter service in Chorleywood.”
Lisa said: “There was less and less footfall when the post office was closed, and with no banks, it’s so important to have a place where people can go. Not everyone can get into to Rickmansworth easily, and we want people doing their shopping and things here in Chorleywood to keep our community thriving.”
