A schoolboy from Bushey is continuing to take the chess world by storm as he competes in tournaments across the globe.
Avyukt Dasgupta, 13, started playing chess when he was around seven years old and has taken part in several competitions representing England.
Most recently Avyukt travelled to Ireland for the Chessmates Invitational tournament where his chess skills shined through.
Speaking to BusheyNews, his dad Biplab said chess is definitely something Avyukt wants to pursue in the future.
He said: “He was one of the top performers in the England team, he didn’t lose any games. He looks forward to a challenge. It’s his passion.
“We’ve spent most of our weekends playing chess. On the cards at the end of the month is the Reykjavík Open. There are a lot of strong players above him but he’s definitely looking forward to it.”
Avyukt is now preparing to travel to Iceland for the Reykjavík Open ranked at around 230 out of 430 players.
