A petition has been started to try and prevent vehicles from illegally using a bus lane in North Western Avenue.
Councillor for Leggatts ward, Asif Khan, has also written to the Police and Crime Commissioner of Hertfordshire, David Lloyd, in a bid to get the issue sorted out as soon as possible.
Cllr Khan said: “The bus lane is being used frequently illegally by other vehicles with near misses from unsuspecting vehicles.
“Hertfordshire County Council has confirmed with me that Automatic Number Plate Recognition cameras will be installed in early 2023, but this needs to be done a lot sooner.
“In the meantime, I have asked the Police and Crime Commissioner to ask the police to enforce the bus lane. I do think taxis and buses should be able to use the lane without the danger of oncoming vehicles.”
