ENERGY SUPPORT: New helpline opens for Three Rivers residents dealing with high energy prices

Published on: 5th June 2022   |   By: Bryn Holmes   |   Category: Uncategorized

Three Rivers District Council (TRDC) has started a new telephone service to provide residents of Rickmansworth and beyond with free support and advice on home energy, as prices soar to a ten-year high, with further rises expected.

The Home Energy Support Service (HESS), which was launched on Monday, May 23, will be open to all residents in the Three Rivers area regardless of their living situation. It aims to offer practical advice on how to save energy and lower bills.

It will also direct residents to the best grants available to improve their home’s energy efficiency, such as solar panels, insulation, and low-carbon heating.

The service is being delivered by the Better Housing, Better Health strategy of sustainable housing charity the National Energy Foundation.

Joanna Hewitson, Climate Change and Sustainability Strategy Officer, said: “Two out of three properties in Three Rivers are classed as energy inefficient. These inefficient homes will be colder, draughtier, and more expensive to heat than energy-efficient ones.

“We want residents – especially those living in homes that are hard to heat – to know that help is available to them. Please call the new helpline to see what you can do to keep your home comfortable and healthy and save money on your energy bills.”

The helpline’s number is 0800 107 0044, with lines being open from 9am to 5pm. Alternatively, you can email bhbh@nef.org.uk
