New murals depicting some of the most notable landmarks in Berkhamsted now decorate the walls of the train station underpass.
As part of a project organised by the Friends of Berkhamsted Station and funded by West Midlands Railway, the previously plain walls have been spruced up with bright, colourful artwork created by local artist Mary Casserley.
The pieces depict several of the town’s landmarks, including Berkhamsted Castle, The Rex cinema, St Peter’s Church, the Grand Union Canal and Berkhamsted School.
Resident have praised the new murals, with one saying they are “an absolute delight” and another adding that “they make a huge difference”.
Speaking to Berkhamsted News, Mary said: “I’m chairman of the local history society, so I wanted to do this for the good of the town. I’ve been really proud; I saw people stopping and looking at it when passing through the other day.”
