When Pinner resident Franci first began dyeing her hair at 13, it’s no surprise that she was setting the ball rolling for a hugely successful career.
Francesca Fabray-Biggenden started her hairdressing career at age 16 when she began working as a full-time apprentice. Now, the talented stylist works at Luke Ormsby Hair on the High Street.
Speaking to Pinner news, she explained: “I just love the social aspect of it. I love making people feel good about themselves.
“You become a part of different people’s lives in different ways. It’s nice being part of someone’s journey.”
It was her boss Luke who pushed Franci to apply for the Salon Awards for London, where she ended up in three finals: Stylist of the Year for London, Colourist of the Year for London, and Image of the Year for London.
On the weekend of Saturday, November 2, Franci was crowned Stylist of the Year for London 2024.
She said: “It’s nuts! I completely didn’t expect to win anything, I’m just a hairdresser from Pinner! When they called my name, I was in absolute shock.
“That morning, I was coming back from my honeymoon in Iceland with my husband! When my name got called, I went up on stage to accept the award and looked back, and he was in tears!”
Franci hopes her story can inspire young hairdressers to pursue their careers despite the changing landscape of cosmetology post-COVID.
She added: “I hope to inspire young stylists. You can put yourself out there and be successful. You don’t need to be a celebrity stylist or work in Marylebone. The next generation needs to see that.”
