‘UNEXPECTED COSTS’: Kings Langley FC asks for support after storm damage shelves stadium plans

Running a football club can be tough at the best of times, but when a storm ravages vital parts of the stadium, a challenging task becomes even harder.

After Storm Darragh caused chaos in Kings Langley in December, the village’s football club has called on the community for support after bearing the brunt of the damage.

Kings Langley Football Club (KLFC) have set up a fundraiser to try and repair the fences which were stood behind the goal on the near side of the pitch. The fences, which the club say were worth £10,000, were were blown down in the storm.

KLFC play at the Orbital Fasteners Stadium, which plays a vital role in the community and hosts hundreds of fans and several players each week. This season, they have been sharing the stadium with Potters Bar Town, and Watford Ladies also played at the ground in recent years.

KLFC also confirmed on Wednesday December 11, that a group from the team’s committee was recently formed to begin working on improving the facilities available at The Orbital Fasteners Stadium for youth players and first team supporters, but the storm damage has left the club needing to focus on repairing the facilities they already have.

In a post on X, the club said: “As a volunteer-run football club, unexpected costs, on top of already soaring running costs, can be crippling.

“Following the damage caused by Storm Darragh, we’ve had to throw out all the plans we were working on to make improvements to our facilities.”
