Watford residents now have the privilege of walking along the Yellow Brick Road after a street name was changed to honour Sir Elton John.
Permission to rename Occupation Road outside Watford FC’s Vicarage Road stadium was granted in August of last year.
The new Yellow Brick Road sign, which draws the eye in vibrant yellow, was installed on Wednesday, November 22.
Pop icon Sir Elton has long been entwined with Watford FC, supporting them as a boy and later becoming club chairman and president.
The official renaming, inspired by one of Elton’s most popular albums, comes at a time when the club are in the process of planning a new mosaic for their most famous patron.
Fans can be a part of the mosaic by sending in photos of themselves to make up a grand image of Sir Elton’s most famous moments with the club along the Yellow Brick Road.
The cost of having a photo in the mosaic is £40. Once finalised and produced, net proceeds from the mosaic will be made available to help fund Junior Hornets activities for young Watford supporters.
