The management of the Kings Langley Flower Pot Nursery today (Thursday, September 18) confirmed that a member of the nursery staff has been arrested and charged with offences involving children.
The nursery are cooperating closely with the police and offering their fullest assistance to specially trained officers who, with parental consent, will be speaking to the children as they carry out their investigation.
Zara Lancashire, 20, of Datchworth Turn, was arrested on Monday, September 15. She was subsequently charged on Wednesday, September 17, with one count of sexual assault of a child, three counts of distributing indecent images of a child, three counts of making indecent images of a child, and four counts of publishing an obscene article via a chat application. The nursery management will also be cooperating fully with the relevant child protection authorities, including Ofsted which has suspended the Kings Langley registration for a period of six weeks while they carry out their own investigation. The nursery are working with parents whose family arrangements will be affected by this closure, where possible offering temporary placements at other nearby Flower Pot nurseries.
A spokesperson for the Flower Pot nursery said: “We do understand that this must be worrying and upsetting for our families, and our designated safeguarding leads are available to meet with parents wherever and whenever this will help. People who know us know that the safety and welfare of the children in our care has always been our highest priority and we are also absolutely committed to ensuring that our parents also receive our fullest possible support during this difficult time.”
