Berkhamsted fell further behind league leaders Corby Town on Saturday, December 21, after they were defeated by Kempston at home, who sit in 18th place.
A late goal in the first half from Jake Newman gave Kempston the lead despite Berkhamsted dominating the early stages of the game.
The home side fought throughout to get something out of the game with Lewis Toomey having a few opportunities, but the visitors defended heroically to steal all three points.
The Comrades will have to bounce back quickly with games coming thick and fast over the festive period with their next game on Boxing Day against Dunstable away from home, and then a home game against fellow promotion hopefuls Welwyn Garden City.
