‘So no child goes without’ is now a goal known across the Metaverse after members of a local charity were invited to speak at Meta’s international marketing summit.
Sebby’s Corner was founded by Bushey resident Bianca Sakol and provides a range of support for vulnerable families across London and the Home Counties.
Tech company Meta, which owns Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, reached out to Emma Parker and Jocelyn Shein from Sebby’s Corner to come along to the offices and speak at the summit.
After hearing that Sebby’s Corner had delivered 5,464 toiletry packs to those in need between August and November, Meta decided to do something to help.
A team of volunteers at the conference packed 240 packs of essential items in record time, which will be distributed to families in need.
The company also provided presents for Sebby’s grotto, which gave Christmas presents to children who would otherwise have gone without.
Speaking to Busheynews, Emma shared: “Sometimes as a charity you can feel like a very small fish in a very big pond, so we were pleased when they reached out.
“It was great to speak about the services we offer, from birthday presents to school uniforms. Families never know what situation they are going to be in, and bad situations can really happen to anyone.
“Everyone was so nice and super friendly, and it was great to see so many inspirational women.”
Moving forward, the charity and leading global tech company will continue their partnership to make a difference to people living in poverty.
