A SMALL ACT: Watford charity launches short film as part of campaign to raise £100,000

A Watford-based charity has launched its latest fundraising initiative to highlight the issues faced by vulnerable people living alone.

Small Acts of Kindness, which first launched in 2014, has helped more than 75,000 older people through campaigns such as their Warm in Winter gift bags.

Now, the charity has released a short film, A Small Act, which highlights the issues faced by older people, such as increases in energy prices and rising costs of living.

The film launches the charity’s fundraising campaign to raise £100,000 toward the cost of sourcing, packing and distributing 12,000 more Warm in Winter gift bags – helping people to stay home when they can’t afford to heat their home.

Speaking at the launch of the film, Small Acts of Kindness CEO Lynne Misner said: “Fifty-eight per cent of recipients of our gift bags last winter leave their home less than three times a week. They have no escape from the cold, loneliness and isolation that this brings.

“Our film, A Small Act, raises awareness of the challenges faced by so many older people. Together, we can change this. Your donations will make a difference to the lives of thousands of older people when they need it the most and we thank you for helping to connect communities with kindness.”

Several members of the community attended the launch of the film on June 14, including Elected Mayor of Watford Peter Taylor, who introduced the film.
