The cloisters at Bushey Rose Garden have been restored and are once again open for all to enjoy.
Once part of Lululand, a mansion built by artist Sir Hubert von Herkomer around 1890 and named after his wife Lulu, the cloisters have a fascinating history.
After the mansion was demolished, an art school was built, and when it closed in 1912, the cloisters were integrated into the Rose Garden.
In 1987, they were rediscovered buried at the Clay Lane pumping station, and in 1995, thanks to Veolia Water, they were returned to their rightful place.
After Hertsmere Borough Council undertook a renovation, the project was celebrated with a ceremony attended by Ian Kershaw, cllr Myers, and Diana Brown from the Friends of the Rose Garden.
