A St Albans gallery is teaming up with the business improvement district (BID) to create a mural representing community in the heart of the city.

Collective Gallery, based on Holywell Hill, is working with BID on this project as a way to promote and represent the sense of community and diversity within St Albans.

Local artist Claire Spake has been chosen to create the work. She works both professionally and in a freelance painter role for the film and TV industry.

The mural will be painted on the wall of Bar Meze Restaurant in Drovers Way.

Aisha, the operator of Collective Gallery, said: “I am very excited to be continuing this public art project for its second year. It’s going to be great to work with this year’s mural artist Claire Spake. The arts are such an important part of this community.

“My vision is to help St Albans become a city known for arts and culture.

“We have a wealth of artistic talent here and I am extremely grateful for having the opportunity to work with so many of these artists and provide the community with the opportunity to enjoy the arts in public spaces around the city.”
