WITNESS APPEAL: Police search for witnesses after serious assault in St Albans

Detectives are appealing for witnesses and information following a serious assault in St Albans.

Officers were called to St Peter’s Street at around 1.20am yesterday (September 14), after reports that a man in his 20s was assaulted.

Michael Irving, 28, of Norwich Road, Ipswich, was arrested and charged with wounding/inflicting grievous bodily harm without intent and criminal damage.

He was remanded in custody ahead of a hearing at Hatfield Magistrates’ Court today (Monday, September 15). He was further remanded and will next appear at St Albans Crown Court on Tuesday October 14.

Detective Constable Luke O’Gorman, who is investigating, said: “Despite securing a successful charging decision, we are continuing to appeal for witnesses.
