A young pianist has been crowned Rickmansworth Young Musician of the Year 2025 at the annual competition run by Chorleywood Music.
On Sunday, March 23, the six finalists performed their final two contrasting works at the Richard Lawson Piano Studios in Amersham.
After some incredible performances, it was young pianist Robby Cassels who took the top spot. Second place went to cellist Iván Cherednichenko Carillo and third place went to violinist Eliza de Silva.
The Cherubim Music Trust headed to their social media and said: “Congratulations to cello awardee Iván Carrillo for winning 2nd place in Rickmansworth Young Musician of the Year 2025! As a result, he has been invited back to Rickmansworth to perform a concerto with the Chorleywood Orchestra.
“Not only this, but after performing at Scarborough Symphony Orchestra’s Concerto Competition Final, Iván was selected to appear as concerto soloist in their 2028/29 season. Congratulations all around!”
