Published on: 12th January 2020   |   By: News Desk   |   Category: Wealdstone F.C

Ten-man Wealdstone held on to secure an 11th home win of the season against strugglers Welling United in the National League South on Saturday afternoon.

A first half goal from Michee Efete was enough for the Stones to claim all the points, despite Michael Phillips’ second half red card.

The Stones broke the deadlock after 27 minutes when Danny Green clipped the ball into Moses Emmanuel, he touched it down for Efete to slot under Dan Wilks. Wealdstone 1 Welling United 0.

New signing Emmanuel almost doubled Wealdstone’s lead before the break when his shot flicked off the woodwork.

The league leaders were reduced to ten-men in the final 15 minutes, Phillips received two quick yellow cards which gave a nervy end to the contest.

Wealdstone stretch seven points clear at the top of the National League South ahead of the trip to Havant & Waterlooville next weekend.
