Watford sexual assault victim appeals for information to catch her attacker

The victim of a sexual assault which occurred in Watford has made an appeal for information to help identify her attacker a year after the assault. The victim, who is in her 20s, left a nightclub in the town in the early hours of July 26, 2014, where she walked up the High Street to the Post Office cashpoint, but no cash was available. She then walked to the taxi rank and tried to get a taxi to take her home and stop off on the way to get money; she wasn’t able to so she decided to walk. She walked home along Rickmansworth Road past Cassiobury Park and as she approached the junction of Harwoods Road the offender approached her from behind and sexually assaulted her. He is described was a black man, possibly African, who was around 5ft 6ins tall and bald. He was wearing a navy blue short sleeved shirt, which had a circular pattern with the top button undone and faded denim boot cut jeans. The victim said: “I would never want another person to experience what I did that night and knowing that this person is still out there means that it can potentially happen again so if anyone has any information to help capture this man please come forward.” Detective Constable Rebecca Watson from the specialist sexual offences investigation team said: “Whilst I appreciate it is now a year since the offence occurred I would urge anyone who has any information about what happened to please call police. It could be that you were in the area and saw the man described hanging around or were approached by him yourself for some reason. “I am confident someone somewhere has information which could prove vital to this investigation and on the year anniversary I would please encourage you to come forward.
