Watford General dementia team say thank you to local Masonic lodge

Published on: 3rd December 2014   |   By: The Newsdesk   |   Category:

Doctors, nurses and other staff from the Bluebell Ward at Watford Hospital have teamed up to say thank you to the Lodge of Light and Honour (a local Masonic lodge) after they donated more than £400 of gifts to support patients staying on the ward.

Bluebell is a dedicated ward for frail elderly patients who also have dementia.  The gifts, which include puzzles and model kits, were donated by the lodge’s charity steward, Martin Abrahams and lodge member Colin Stodel, who is also a volunteer at the hospital. The money to purchase the gifts was collected from lodge members at their regular meetings. Samantha Jones, Chief Executive said: “I’d like to extend a big thank you to the Lodge of Light and Honour for their generous donation.  Bluebell Ward recently won a national award for the standard of care it provides to our patients, and donations like these help our team to keep their patients entertained and active. Lesley Thompson is the sister on Bluebell Ward.  She said: “On behalf of the team on Bluebell Ward and all of our patients, we would like to say a huge thank you to Martin, Colin and the Lodge of Light and Honour.  Their support is really appreciated.” Colin said: “We are delighted to be able to support the doctors, nurses and other staff who do such a great job in looking after the patients on Bluebell Ward.  It’s nice to know our gifts will be put to such good use.”
