Family, friends, shop owners and villagers paid their respects to Kings Langley legend, Christopher John Paddon as his funeral proceeded through the village yesterday.
John, of Montague’s Newsagents and Whizz Bang Fireworks was a dearly loved husband, father, grandad and great grandad and will be dearly missed.
Having just celebrated his 80th birthday, John sadly passed away after a short battle with a sudden illness on May 6.
His famous saying was “I’ve had a good innings!”
John will always be remembered for his warm, friendly and dry sense of humour says his daughter Alison.
She went on to say that he was described by locals as a “true gentleman”, a “legend”, an “amazing chap” and a “lovely friend and zany character”.
Alison added: “He adored his family unconditionally, stood by us all through thick and thin and proudly supported each one of us to the ends of the earth. Our rock, our constant and our joy, we feel blessed to have had this special man in our lives.”
To celebrate his life and to say ‘Adios’ to the people in his much loved community, John has arranged a final farewell firework display on Friday, May 24.
The display will take place at Chipperfield Common at 9.30pm this Friday. All are welcome.
