Ukrainians fleeing the war have been welcomed in Chorleywood for many months, but more support is needed to help refugees settle into their new lives in the village.
Since Russia invaded Ukraine in 2021, refugees have fled across Europe, with more than 25 households now in Chorleywood.
One of those soon to arrive in the village is a woman in her sixties. A host has been identified but when she arrives, she will need help to register with a GP, set up a bank account and learn English.
Local residents Stephanie and Russell Hallam recently welcomed Polina and her 13-year-old-daughter after they fled their home country.
They said: “We loved hearing about their lives in Ukraine, and it was great to be able to do something significant to help them.”
