Warning as three keyless cars stolen off driveways

A number of high class cars were stolen in Bushey earlier this month by thieves using the keyless entry method. 

The spate of thefts saw a Mercedes, Range Rover, BMW and attempted burglary of an Audi take place over the two days of Tuesday, June 11 and Thursday, June 13. 

Just after 1.40am on June 11, thieves stole a Mercedes CLS350 from the victim’s driveway on Clapgate Road. The crime reference number is 41/52328/19. 

Between the times of 7pm and 7am on June 12 to 13, a BMW M3 was stolen from a driver way in Cotswold Avenue. Crime reference number is 41/52965/19.

Later that night, offenders stole a Range Rover Sport was stolen from a driveway in Woodlands Road between the hours of 8.30pm to 7am on June 12 to June 13. Crime reference number is 41/52983/19. 

There was a further attempted break in in Coldharbour Lane where police believe offender/s were trying to get the keys for the Audi parked on the driveway. Crime reference number is 41/52948/19. 

Keyless car thefts have become more frequent in the past year which involves an offender using a scanner which picks up the frequency from the a ‘keyless’ car key which are inside the house which then allows offenders to gain access into the vehicle and start the ignition. 

Keyless cars mean the cars key doesn’t have to be used to start the car – it just has to be within a certain range for the car to work.
