Detectives are appealing for witnesses and information following an attempted burglary that occurred in Sarratt on Monday (October 5). The incident occurred shortly after 1pm in Church Lane. It is believed that five offenders attempted to gain access to the rear of a property. They were disturbed and made off towards North Hill in an old style (late 80s model) black VW Polo which was in convoy with a white Transit van. Four of the offenders were described as aged between 18 and 19 years old, around 6ft 2ins tall and wearing hooded tops. The fifth man was described as aged in his mid-30s, approximately 5ft 10ins tall and had ‘straw’ coloured hair. DC Paul Burton from the Local Crime Unit is investigating and said: “I would like to appeal to anyone who may have seen a group of men acting suspiciously in the Sarratt area around the time the incident took place. I’d also like to hear from anyone who may have seen a white transit in convoy with an old style dark coloured VW Polo driving at speed.” Anyone with any information in relation to this incident is asked to contact DC Burton via Hertfordshire Constabulary’s non-emergency number 101, quoting crime reference C2/15/2383. Alternatively contact the independent crime-fighting charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or through their Anonymous Online Form at www.crimestoppers-uk.org. No personal details are taken, information cannot be traced or recorded and you will never need to go to court.
