In 1998, Bushey resident Gary Goodman created a business that would become “the greatest blessing” to his family.
Insurance Claims Accommodation Bureau (ICAB) started as a hotel and booking service and now provides solutions for people who have to leave their home due to unexpected or planned displacement.
Though at first Gary’s wife was sceptical at the venture, she, alongside his three children and wider family, quickly supported him.
Speaking to BUSHEYnews, Gary’s daughter and now HR and communications director Kellie Leigh said: “It is a privilege to get to sit in the same room as my brothers every day – working with your family makes you work a bit harder.”
Twenty-seven years later, ICAB has been shortlisted for The Small Awards, which champion “businesses often overlooked”.
For the family, this achievement goes deeper, with Kellie adding: “We’ve been shortlisted for our products before, but this is very emotional and feels very special.”
