Like so many other events, VE Day celebrations next month look set to be cancelled by the coronavirus pandemic but you can join a performer from Garston to pay your respects.
Karen Kennedy plays 1940s housewife Victoria Sponge and has performed in the past at venues including care homes, day centres and even the Watford museum.
Karen said: “I trained as a musical theatre performer and I like to give back a bit especially to those people who find it hard to get out and about. My grandparents taught me all the old musical songs and they were the first wardens of Frogmoor Court Care Home in Rickmansworth so I used to go and perform for residents in there.
“As I can’t do an actual concert, this is the next best thing to thank those who sacrificed their lives and today’s heroes.”
To celebrate the 75th anniversary of VE Day, Victoria is giving a special online performance to help celebrate the heroes of yesteryear as well as the heroes of today.
The event is absolutely free but if you would like to, please make a donation to Raise, who are the fundraising group for West Herts Hospitals.
