UP FOR BAT: Kings Langley’s new women’s cricket team gets off to a strong start

Published on: 15th March 2024   |   By: Bryn Holmes   |   Category: Uncategorized

Kings Langley Cricket Club (KLCC) have recently launched a women’s team to meet growing demand in the village.

The club previously had a female-only side, but momentum was lost after the lead coach became a father and was unable to commit time to the team.

However, the club’s recent post on the Kings Langley Matters Facebook group, asking how the community would respond if a women’s team was set up, showed that demand remained strong.

KLCC’s new women’s team is already 70 people strong and growing, and training sessions at Vicarage Lane have begun in earnest, led by local coach Amy Price.

A spokesperson for the club said: “We are now organising a further set of training sessions on other nights of the week, so we can include those who cannot make Wednesdays.

“Almost all of the women who have attended so far have never played cricket.”
