Three years on from the tragic passing of Croxley’s beloved Mr Christmas, CROXLEYnews is looking back at the wonderful impact he and his late wife Mrs Christmas had on the community.
Dave Edwards and his wife Carol would plan their extravagant Christmas decorations from January, and by October would be joined by their teams of elves to begin putting up the awe-inspiring display.
Over 40 years, Mr and Mrs Christmas raised thousands of pounds for several charities.
Their daughter, Sharon Markham, spoke to CROXLEYnews and said: “It’s still very painful. We’ve always been a Christmas family, but it isn’t the same without mum and dad.
“They’re both missed by so many people, and no one will be able to recreate what they did.”
The duo even made it on the Channel 5 programme Britain’s Craziest Christmas Lights in 2017, where Mr Edwards and his wife recalled previous experiences of putting up the Christmas lights.
Mr Christmas’ passing in November 2020 was tough news for the Croxley community, and his funeral the following December was attended by hundreds of residents who lined the streets in their Christmas hats.
