TUBE TREK: Man runs the length of the Metropolitan line for charity

Published on: 11th November 2024   |   By: Nik Allen   |   Category: Uncategorized

A man from Hammersmith is running the entire London Underground to raise money for Movember, starting with the Metropolitan line on Saturday, October 26.

Harry Clough ran the 68km length of the Metropolitan line from Amersham to Aldgate in six hours and 57 minutes, making it his longest run to date.

On his inaugural run, Harry passed through many other My Local News areas including Chorleywood, Watford, Croxley, Rickmansworth, Northwood and Pinner.

On finishing the run, he said he “felt pretty happy to be finished” and was glad to have got one the longest Tube lines out of the way.

Harry raised money for Movember, a month-long event that aims to raise awareness of men’s health issues, particularly mental health. He chose Movember not only because he has struggled with his own mental health in the past, but also because “it’s such a great cause and most people know someone who has been affected by mental health”.

Speaking to My Local News, Harry said: “It’s 100 per cent of the reason why I run. I don’t run with music, which some people think is crazy, but I think it’s a good time to clear your head and think.”

With the mental benefits he receives, Harry says he “would never stop running”.

Harry is no stranger to a challenge; earlier this year, he set himself a goal of running 31 half marathons, five marathons and two ultramarathons in 2024.

When he completes his run of the entire London Underground network on Saturday, December 7, Harry plans to celebrate at the pub.
