A Chalfont St Giles parish councillor has shared her frustration after her requests to manage a health and safety risk have allegedly been ignored.
On June 25, 2018, councillor Mary Phillips reported a raised manhole cover to Buckinghamshire Council (BC) via the problem reporting system Fix My Street. The raised cover on the corner of Narcot Lane and Three Households in Chalfont St Giles is said to be a trip hazard and to pose a risk to elderly residents.
Cllr Phillips followed this matter up several times, but the issue remains unresolved.
In April 2023, a new contractor took over the contract for road repairs for Buckinghamshire Council. When cllr Phillips once again reported the issue, BC councillor Simon Rouse replied to say that a job had been issued for the repair.
Councillor Steve Broadbent, BC’s cabinet member for transport, said: “We would like to thank this resident for raising this matter with us. We are currently investigating why a permanent repair does not appear to have been made at this site before now. In the meantime, a technician will attend the site as a matter of urgency to assess what works are needed and this will be programmed into our schedule for immediate attention.”
