TRIP HAZARD: Abbots bollard to be repaired nearly two months since reported

Published on: 25th August 2019   |   By: News Desk   |   Category: Uncategorized

A bollard which was knocked over in July has been labelled a “death trap” by local residents.

The bollard, which is outside Budgens in Abbots Langley, was first reported to Hertfordshire County Council by Sara Bedford on July 17.

Yet over two months later the trip hazard is yet to be fixed and is left lying on the floor with broken concrete slabs uprooted.

One Facebook user on Abbots Langley REALLY Matters said: “Someone knows about it, they painted orange dots on the paving slabs.”

Another commented: “Poor visually impaired people who walk into that. Disgusting to leave it in such a state.”

The county council told the Three Rivers council leader that it would not be repaired until “on or before September 11”.

A spokesperson for Hertfordshire County Council said: “In line with our repair timescales, the damaged bollard is due to be repaired within 20 working days of the original report (by September 11).”
