A tree, about 30m in height, near Hemel Hempstead town centre fell during strong winds last night.
The tree, opposite the Vauxhall garage on Two Waters Road, had fallen in the River Gade and the tops of the branches had gone across the pavement and partially onto the road.
Police put cones in place whilst tree surgeons cut the branches back, so the road and pavement were useable again.
The tree is expected to be removed at a later date. It is also believed that a tree had also fallen during the night near St Albans Hill road.
The road is now clear of debris.
