Abbots Langley residents have reportedly been left angry and upset about ongoing maintenance works on Abbots Road.
Temporary traffic lights were installed on the High Road near to St Lawrence Close whilst Affinity Water carried out essential maintenance works.
But according to the Leader of Three Rivers District Council, Abbots Langley councillor Stephen Giles-Medhurst OBE, no work was carried out for a week.
The lights were also reportedly staying red for long periods of time, which resulted in a backlog of traffic and left many residents frustrated.
According to cllr Giles-Medhurst, Hertfordshire County Council contacted the water company on several occasions, but Affinity Water allegedly did not respond.
Cllr Giles-Medhurt said: “We understand water mains need replacing, but they have ignored what Hertfordshire Highways have told them and the works are overrunning, often with no one working for days on end.
“Frankly, the way they are treating residents over this is disgraceful.”
A spokesperson for Affinity Water said: “The works on St Lawrence Close have now been completed.
“These formed part of the broader Mains Replacement Project in Abbots Langley, which is expected to continue until February 2026.
“We acknowledge that there were some issues with the traffic lights during the early stages of the works. These were resolved promptly, and we apologise for any inconvenience caused.
